Fun fact

What is the Largest Diamond ever found?

The largest diamond ever found on earth is the magnificent Cullinan Diamond. Discovered near Pretoria in South Africa in 1905, the diamond in its rough state weighed a staggering 3,106 carats. Furthermore, the Cullinan has an extraordinary blue-white colour and exceptional clarity. After its discovery, the Cullinan was sent to world leading diamond cutters of the time Asschers of Amsterdam where it was cut into 9 main diamonds named I to IX, and 97 small brilliant diamonds. The Cullinan I and II are incorporated in the King's Sceptre and Imperial State crown.
But, the biggest diamond ever found is around 900 light years away. According to the National Geographic, Astronomers have found an ancient white dwarf star that had cooled around 11 billion years ago and has since crystallised in to a massive diamond about the size of the Earth. Although it no longer emits light, its presence is detected through the way its gravity perturbs the pulses from a nearby pulsar.

The 4Cs

No other consumer products undergo the same level of scrutiny as a diamond. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI) use consistent and exacting standards to assess and certify the quality of a diamond.
The grading criteria that covers Carat, Cut, Colour, and Clarity, collectively known as 'the 4Cs' assist you in making an informed decision when selecting your gemstone.
